Škoda Group has announced it has acquired electrical equipment developer Cegelec a.s. from VINCI Energies.

The acquisition is expected to allow Škoda Group to expand its already extensive portfolio, leveraging Cegelec’s existing components to produce further products for public transport vehicles, as well as an extra range of services.

Škoda Group has acquired 100% of the shares of Cegelec a.s. from VINCI Energies

Cegelec a.s. will continue to operate as its own business as part of the Škoda Group under the new name Electric Components a.s., retaining a large number of its existing employees.

Karel Majer, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Sales Director of Škoda Electric a.s., part of Škoda Group, said:

Škoda Group is undergoing long-term development, which includes strengthening our R&D, production, and service capacities. We are looking forward to working with new colleagues and to working on interesting projects – both existing and new ones – that will soon await us.
