Siemens Finalises Service Agreement with RZD

Russian Railways (RZD) have awarded Siemens a maintenance contract for Desiro RUS type regional trains. Terms of the contract were being negotiated back in 2011 when Siemens were awarded to produce the trains. The maintenance contract will run for 40 years.

Siemens Maintenance for Russian Railways

The production of 240 trains started gave in 2013. The first 10 trains have already produced and certified. The delivery of the vehicles will continue till 2020. The trains are destined for the service on Russia’s ever growing metropolitan regions.

In 2011, RZD awarded Siemens a 40-year maintenance contract covering 54 trains. This has been integrated into the current agreement, taking the total number of trains to be service to 294.
