Serco Caledonian Sleeper Service Implements CAF’s LeadMind

CAF has announced that its LeadMind platform is improving services on the Serco Caledonian Mk5 Sleeper fleet by providing real-time remote monitoring and condition-based maintenance alerts.

The Serco Caledonian Sleeper (SCS) is an overnight sleeper train that operates between London and Scotland.

LeadMind implementation on the SCS Mk5 Sleeper fleet has provided live and historic access to the thousands of variables and alarms generated by the on-board systems

Caledonian Sleeper trains travel from London to Edinburgh and Glasgow on their Lowland Route, and London to Fort William, Inverness and Aberdeen on their Highland Route. CAF states that this variability makes the management of information complex when implementing a system such as LeadMind.

Graham Eastwood, Head of Depot Contracts at Caledonian Sleeper said:

“Serco Caledonian Sleeper now have the ability to use real time data from LeadMind to monitor the fleet in service to identify issues and provide an improved level of engineering support to our Train Managers. LeadMind also allows for live alerts to be generated based on specific system variables that allows mitigating actions to be taken, improving the reliability of our overnight service. We continue to work with the CAF Digital Services team to further develop the core product to really drive reliability improvements on the fleet.”

LeadMind features such as live telemetry allows SCS to analyse the cars before they arrive at the depot and without stopping the service.

This process improves the effectiveness of fault diagnosis and optimises maintenance planning to improve service availability, comfort, and safety.
