Ronald Pofalla, infrastructure director at Deutsche Bahn, has announced his departure from Deutsche Bahn in April due to ‘personal reasons’.
Ronald Pofalla will leave the company on 30 April 2022. Now 62, he joined DB in January 2015. He was given the infrastructure brief in 2017.
Michael Odenwald, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, expressed his thanks for the good co-operative relationship Mr Pofalla has had with the management board, continuing that he understood Mr Pofalla’s motives but said that he found the decision ‘regrettable’.
CEO of Deutsche Bahn, Richard Lutz said, “He recognised the opportunities of digitalising rail early on and set the course”.
Ronald Pofalla said:For personal reasons, I intend to end my board mandate at DB AG on April 30 of this year. After more than seven years with the company, it's time to move on to the next chapter in my life. I am grateful to DB AG, under the leadership of Richard Lutz, for the past few years, in which we have been able to implement key things to implement the 'Strong Rail' in terms of digitisation and the creation of additional capacity.
