Germany: S-Bahn Trains Collide in Munich

Two S-Bahn trains have collided near ​​the Ebenhausen-Schäftlarn S-Bahn station in the south of Munich.

Investigations are now underway by the relevant authorities and the cause of the incident has yet to be announced.

Rescue workers, police and Deutsche Bahn (DB) staff were deployed to the site of the incident, which took place on the afternoon of 14 February.

At the time of writing one death has been reported, and several people have been injured.

Heiko Büttner, Head of the Munich S-Bahn, said:

“Our deepest sympathy goes to the families of the victims of the accident. We wish the injured a speedy and full recovery.”

DB has closed a section of track between Großhesselohe Isar Valley Station and Wolfratshausen until further notice and a rail replacement service has been set up for travel to these destinations.
