Combining an exhibition with 153 exhibitors from across the rolling-stock supply chain, a conference organised by the Railway Industry Association, unlimited networking opportunities, a Digitisation Forum and a series of product launches and demonstrations, it really is an event that is not to be missed.

On Display
Before visitors even go through the front door of Rolling Stock Networking 2025 (RSN), they will come across the first exhibit – it will be hard to miss!
Positive Traction has converted a Class 08 diesel shunting locomotive, originally built in the 1950s, to battery power. The 08e locomotive will be displayed outside the exhibition hall on a heavy haulage trailer provided by Reid Freight.
RSN Exhibits
Inside the exhibition hall itself, representatives from over 150 companies will be ready to meet visitors and explain how their latest products and services can save money, improve reliability and enhance performance. There will be train builders on hand, both engineers and procurement staff, for visitors to get to know, discuss common ground and arrange to meet afterwards.
Other stands will feature Tier 1 suppliers, those major concerns who supply the train builders with much of their materials. And then there will be smaller and more-specialist suppliers of everything from cables to fasteners, passenger-counting systems to CCTV, and lighting to carpets. If it exists, you should find it at RSN.
With the pressure on the whole industry to reduce costs, that requires innovation, as doing things “the way we always have” won’t come up with the savings the industry needs. Attending RSN will give engineers a host of ideas on how to incorporate innovations into their latest projects and will show buyers how they can keep costs under control while building a better product.
Meeting and Networking
Many RSN visitors will come to network, either with people on the various stands or with friends and colleagues they meet on the exhibition floor. Networking is an important part of events such as RSN, and relationships made or strengthened by meeting rail industry colleagues can lead to business between the parties.
HS2, CAF and Stadler will have buyers on their stands, Hitachi Rail and Alstom are in the MTB and touring, and Angel Trains and Siemens Mobility have confirmed that they will have procurement teams at the show.
Conference
The Railway Industry Association (RIA) is organising the conference at RSN this year which will be held on the mezzanine floor above the main exhibition stands. Speakers will consider the future outlook for UK rolling stock in the short, medium and long term, and will examine current options and proposals for the procurement of new build trains as well as fleet cascade and refurbishment. In total the conference will cover no less than seven important topics including: –
- Paul Baines of Siemens Mobility will consider the opportunities and risks of rail reform from a rolling stock manufacturers perspective.
- Looking at the future of the railway from the perspective of the supply chain is a topic that Andrea Green, UK&I Business Development Director of Alstom will present upon. The Future of the Railway – A supply chain perspective.
Digitisation Forum
Delta XD will host an exclusive event at RSN 2025, dedicated to solving the challenges of obsolescence, upgrade and new build projects across the rolling stock and locomotive sectors.
Delta XD is helping the rail industry to accelerate overhaul, upgrade and modernisation programmes while significantly reducing project timeframes and costs.
There will also be a digitisation mini expo area, where visitors can see the latest technologies in action, view real-world project examples and speak directly with technical experts.
Venue
RSN 2025 will be taking place at the Derby Arena in Pride Park, next to the Derby County football stadium. The sat-nav reference is DE24 8JB, there is a 1,100-space car park and parking will be FREE to visitors and exhibitors alike.
Alternatively, Derby Arena is a 15-minute walk from Derby station (two minutes by taxi).
Located in the centre of England, at the heart of the railway industry, and with car parking on site and a main line station close by, there is no excuse NOT to be at Rolling Stock Networking 2025. See you there!
