The Vectron MS (multi-system) locomotives that Railpool has ordered are capable of operating in 18 countries and will be used on different north-south and east-west rail corridors in Europe. The multi-system locomotives offer flexibility in that locomotives do not have to be changed at international borders.

Torsten Lehnert, CEO, Railpool GmbH, said:

It’s becoming more and more important for our customers to be able to use their locomotives flexibly based on the needs in different European countries. With the purchase of additional Vectron locomotives with universal applicability, we are responding to these market needs and are also sending a positive and ecofriendly signal in a growing railway sector.

The Vectron locomotives Railpool has ordered have a maximum power at wheel of 6.4 megawatts and a top speed of 200km/h. They are further equipped with the relevant national train control systems as well as ETCS.

Railpool already placed an order for 20 Vectron locomotives last year.
