CCS is proud to confirm that an official Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) has been published for its low-carbon foam foundation material TECHNO-CRETE.

This adds another independently verified EPD to CCS’s product portfolio, following the publication of relevant declarations for our ARCOSYSTEM cable troughing, as well as our TouchSAFE palisade composite fencing and our composite ballast boards.

A close-up view shows a vibrant green, foamy substance being mixed in a container by two white tools, with some light brown material visible on the outer edge.

An EPD is a formal document that demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and transparency regarding the life cycle of a product. A robust study is undertaken by third-party industry experts to assess the environmental impact — such as greenhouse gas emissions — of a certain product throughout its whole lifespan, from the cultivation and processing of raw materials to the final packaging and transportation throughout the supply chain.

The EPD for TECHNO-CRETE can be viewed here. This certification serves as a quantitative environmental profile of the product’s creation, manufacture, distribution, and also end-of-life. The results allow engineers, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders to view impartial data of the environmental profile of TECHNO-CRETE, and invites comparisons with similar products that also have a published EPD.

Offering a lower-carbon and cost-effective alternative to traditional concrete post mix during construction projects, TECHNO-CRETE is an innovative hydrophobic polyurethane foam foundation system. Available in two packs, part A contains a blend of sustainably grown rapeseed oil and recycled organic mineral oils from the catering trade, while part B consists of isocyanate. When the two packs of liquid are mixed together thoroughly and poured into a hole in the ground around a post, the liquid blend rapidly expands to create a lightweight, high-density foam that surrounds the post, making it secure enough to fix to within one hour.

Kevin Flook, Managing Director of CCS said:

We are delighted to see the publication of this EPD for TECHNO-CRETE, which provides further demonstrable evidence that we are happy to make our decarbonisation measures transparent to clients and prospective customers. Following on from the EPD certification achieved for our composite ballast boards, TouchSAFE composite fencing and ARCOSYSTEM cable containment system, this marks another noteworthy landmark in CCS’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.

TECHNO-CRETE will be on show at the Rail Live exhibition in Stratford-upon-Avon this week. Visitors can see the product for themselves at stand G3, where it is being exhibited by our partners and exclusive UK rail stockist of TECHNO-CRETE, Scott Parnell.
