Petrosoft – A Pivotal Player in the Rail IT Industry

For over two decades, Petrosoft has been a bedrock in the IT industry, specializing in advanced solutions for the railway, logistics, intermodal terminals, and container depot sectors.

With a history of success spanning 23 years, the company boasts over 670 successful implementations, demonstrating deep expertise and commitment to each project. With ten branches across Poland and a team of 100 specialists, Petrosoft undoubtedly maintains a leadership position as a software house and systems integrator.

Railsoft – An Innovative System for the Railway Sector

At the heart of Petrosoft’s offering lies Railsoft – a comprehensive IT solution designed to support operational management and infrastructure in the railway sector. This system utilizes cutting-edge technology to optimize railway resource management processes, providing functionalities ranging from planning and monitoring operations to capacity management and security.

Success in Lithuania – Winning the LTG Infra Tender

Petrosoft’s most recent achievement is winning a prestigious tender in Lithuania with LTG Infra, the equivalent of PKP PLK in Poland. LTG Infra is a key component of the Lithuanian LTG capital group, responsible for managing the country’s railway infrastructure. In fulfilling its tasks, the company is in charge of maintenance, technical supervision, organizing railway transport, and the development and operation of infrastructure, which includes an impressive 3,462 km of railway lines and over 2,172 engineering structures.

Case Study: LTG Infra’s Sidetrack Management Transformation

Before implementing Petrosoft’s system, LTG Infra struggled with dispersed sidetrack management processes, which affected suboptimal resource use and inefficient statistical data acquisition. The system previously in use also did not meet the new requirements for cybersecurity and equal access for all railway traffic participants required by EC Regulation 2019/773.

The solution proposed by Petrosoft – the Yard Management System (YMS) – provides comprehensive automation and optimization of railway sidetrack operations. The scope of implementation included:

  • Annual and daily operational and resource planning with correction capabilities.
  • Operations monitoring and conflict detection.
  • Corrective action planning with alternative execution paths.
  • Operations recording and capacity management analytics.
  • Sidetrack and track capacity management.
  • Track reservation registration.
  • Management of train arrivals and departures.
  • Event management affecting train movements.
  • Integration with the client’s external systems.
  • In the implementation process, Petrosoft also conducted an in-depth pre-implementation analysis, user testing and training, and prepared complete user support documentation.

Impact on Lithuanian Railways

Thanks to this strategic partnership, LTG Infra is now able to manage its resources significantly better, leading to higher efficiency and safety of railway operations. This project not only testifies to the innovativeness of Petrosoft’s solutions but also to their adaptability and ability to meet the specific needs of clients from various sectors. The implementation of the YMS system marks an important step towards the digital transformation of LTG Infra and can serve as a model for other entities managing railway infrastructure worldwide.
