Initial deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2025, with all locomotives produced at Alstom’s Vado Ligure facility in Italy.

The Traxx Universal is a four-axle locomotive platform known for its high energy efficiency and traction capacity.

What’s more, some of the locomotives will feature last mile technology, enabling seamless transitions from electrified to non-electrified lines. This system is particularly beneficial for providing a direct connections between the railway network and terminals or ports.

Michele Viale, Managing Director of Alstom in Italy said:

“We are delighted to announce this significant new contract with Polo Logistica, a longstanding customer and a pioneer in high-power electric locomotives. This agreement strengthens our operations at Vado Ligure and reaffirms our expertise in cutting-edge railway technologies. Our commitment to excellence and innovation allows us to provide tailored solutions to meet our customers' needs. The inclusion of last mile locomotives enhances cargo handling efficiency, speed, and security.”
