The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) announced the winners of its annual Safety Awards, which recognize RAC member-companies’ initiatives that help to ensure our country’s rail network remains among the safest in the world.
International Name Plate Supplies Ltd. (INPS) was the recipient of the 2024 Safety Award from the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS). This prestigious recognition honours leadership in safety innovation and continued commitment to accident prevention across the rail industry.

At INPS, safety is more than a standard—it’s a core value that drives every solution we engineer. This award celebrates our development of Steel Fireproof Hazmat Placards, an industry-first product designed to remain intact and legible in the most extreme conditions, including derailments and fires. Traditional placards can melt under high heat, delaying emergency response efforts. Our steel placards, with cut-out lettering, ensure that critical hazardous material information remains visible, even after exposure to flames.

Our Commitment to Proactive Safety
This innovation directly responds to a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) call for survivable placarding solutions through its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. We delivered a fully developed, regulation-compliant solution ahead of Phase I funding—further proving our commitment to proactive safety measures.
Enhance Identification, Safety, and Compliance
With over 1.2 million hazardous material shipments taking place daily, survivable placards are essential to protect both first responders and communities. Our fireproof placards enhance identification, safety, and compliance, setting a new industry standard and reinforcing INPS as a leader in railway safety innovation.

National Railway Day 2024 (NRD24)
INPS is honoured to receive this recognition and remain committed to pushing the boundaries of safety, innovation, and responsibility within the rail industry. Thank you to CARS for this award and to our team for their tireless dedication to making rail transport safer for all.
