The demands for modern rail fastening systems are constantly increasing: higher load capacity, longer service life, maximum safety and efficient installation and maintenance work are essential.

With the G9 Rail Clip, we are setting new standards in the field of rail fastening systems. The fastening clip combines innovation with flexibility and stands out from existing solutions thanks to its unique technical properties.

Innovative Geometry With Unique Advantages

The idea behind the G9 clip is to control the mechanical properties with an innovative, asymmetrical geometry. This special shape allows optimal stress distribution and high elasticity, making the clip suitable for various installation scenarios.

Jochen Holzfeind, CTO/COO Fixation Systems, voestalpine Railway Systems said:

The G9 Clip combines the strengths of the SKL philosophy in terms of tension and tilt protection and the advantages of the boltless Clips with easy installation and a strong design.

It combines the advantages of several different solutions in a single, universal rail clip. Its robust “G” shape ensures reliable fixation while simplifying both installation and maintenance. Thanks to its modular approach, the G9 clip can be used flexibly in different areas of application and thus contributes to the optimization of railroad infrastructure.

Thomas Mayer, Vice President - R&D and Engineering Fastening Systems said:

In Track the G9 Clip will outstand the performance of existing solutions in terms of elasticity and fatigue strength and lead to a highly available railway infrastructure. Due to its simplicity, it can reduce complexity and ease logistics for our customers.

From Research to Practice

Before market launch, the G9 Clip underwent extensive testing and initial field trials to validate its performance under real-world conditions. Thomas accompanied the G9 Clip from its initial concept through all phases of product development to its successful market introduction, playing a key role in bringing this innovation to life. These milestones highlight the innovative nature of the solution.

Thomas Mayer, Vice President - R&D and Engineering Fastening Systems, voestalpine Railway Systems said:

I actually have 2 highlights: When we produced the first prototype of the G9 Clip and realized how well our simulations and calculations match the physical test results. Secondly, the first installation in railway track regardless the heavy rain.

Successful Test Installations in Austria

In May 2024, the first test installations of the G9 Clip took place in Austria. The installation was accompanied by extensive measurement technology to validate the fastening system’s performance under real-world conditions. The goal was to test the long-term load capacity, stability, and efficiency of the new solution. Initial results indicate promising performance, setting new standards for rail fastening systems.
