Both companies have been in active collaboration for a number of years, with Hitachi Rail having previously supplied TRC with 600 EMU train cars in 2019.

The new ATP solution will be utilised to modernise the EMU500 electrical systems, reducing potential faults and extending vehicle life whilst boosting operational efficiency and supporting a future upgrade to ETCS Level 2 digital signalling.

Gabriel KOE, Senior Director, Hitachi Rail Taiwan, said:

This contract award underlines Hitachi Rail’s longstanding partnership with TRC which is expanding into the signalling sector of TRC’s rail infrastructure and we are committed to delivering a high quality and innovative solution to our client.
