Located in Ialomița County, in the Muntenia region of southeastern Romania; the station serves as a key component in the connection of Central and Eastern Europe along the Nuremberg – Prague – Vienna – Budapest – Curtici – Simeria – Brașov – Bucharest – Constanța route.

The modernisation project included the rehabilitation of infrastructure and superstructures, civil engineering works and upgrades to the overhead contact line and power supply, as well as a number of telecom enhancements.

All aspects of the deployment have been designed to meet current European Standards (CENELEC) for reliability, availability, and maintainability, ensuring full alignment with the expectations of the final customer.
