Hitachi Rail has secured a new contract to provide advanced digital solutions and long-term service support (LTSS) for the Ampang Line in Kuala Lumpur.

The contract includes the integration of different radio networks to enable trains to communicate with control centres and operational systems, as well as advanced data analytics and a number of Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) enhancements.

A Malaysia MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) Train
The initiative marks a significant milestone in service innovation for Malaysia’s rail sector

Once installed, Hitachi’s technology will allow for real-time monitoring as well as early detection of anomalies.

LTSS will ensure that the Signalling & Train Control system is maintained for optimal performance over the next decade, as well as play a role in meeting government performance targets as it aims to maximise return on investment by reducing the need for more expensive short-term fixes.

Alfredo Drago, Head of SRS, APAC, Hitachi Rail, said:

We are excited to support Malaysia’s digital transformation journey with advanced solutions that ensure operational excellence, long-term service reliability, and cost efficiency.

This award not only underlines our technical leadership, but also enhances Hitachi Rail’s position as a trusted, long-term partner in the country. It also reinforces our strong commitment with the local government and rail industry for the transfer of know-how and development of local skills.
