Hitachi Rail and EASIER have been selected to deliver a new ticketing solution for the first metro line in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The contract, which has been awarded by Colas Rail, will see the installation of Hitachi Rail’s TRANSCITYTM ticketing software, along with all associated ticket vending machines, ticket office machines and portable vending machines.

The new metro line is the first to be installed in the area, which currently operates a single bus network

The new metro line spans 37.4km from Anyama Centre station in the north to Aéroport Sud station in the south, with full commissioning of both lines planned to begin in 2027 and 2028.

Jean-Marc Reynaud, VP Hitachi Rail RCS, said:

This contract marks an important step in our commitment to improving public transport in Abidjan. Our ticketing solution will offer passengers in Abidjan a more efficient, sustainable and accessible transport service, and in turn support the economic development of this region.

Currently, public transport in the metropolitan area consists of a sole bus network, with all parties involved looking to ensure interoperability across a multitude of transport networks following the installation of TRANSCITYTM.
