The contract includes an option to secure up to nine additional trams

The units will replace trams currently in operation starting in 2028, which falls in line with SMMAG’s overall strategy to improve passenger experience.

The new Urbos units are set to be specifically tailored to the unique needs of operation within Grenoble, with a number of specific alterations made to improve accessibility, increase capacity, comfort and general operational optimisation.

The trams will be fully air-conditioned, feature a 100% low-floor design, include 12 double-access doors and be capable of carrying up to 281 passengers, including 82 seated. Each unit will also include dedicated space for those with reduced mobility, as well as wheelchair users.
