Cadence, the private-sector partner working with Alto on Canada’s high-speed rail project, has launched a market engagement process for companies interested in participating in its first phase between Ottawa and Montreal.
The initiative intends to provide the industry with information about proposed early procurement activities, expected work packages and indicative timelines for construction of the initial section of the network.
The engagement programme is aimed at both Canadian and international businesses and forms part of preparations for future procurement exercises linked to the development of the railway.

Cadence will host information sessions in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal during July, giving companies an opportunity to learn more about the project and engage directly with the delivery team. Following these events, expressions of interest will be invited from organisations seeking to participate in the delivery of major elements of the scheme.
The market engagement activities are designed to help suppliers prepare for formal procurement processes scheduled to take place during 2026, 2027 and subsequent years.
The Ottawa–Montreal section represents the first phase of the wider high-speed rail programme being developed by Alto and Cadence. The project is intended to establish a new passenger rail connection in the corridor and support long-term investment and economic activity associated with its construction and operation.
To support engagement with potential suppliers, Cadence has created a dedicated procurement information portal where businesses can access details on upcoming opportunities and project developments.
