BNSF Railway is expanding intermodal freight services between the Phoenix metropolitan area in Arizona and the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) region in Texas, with trains now operating six days a week.
The expanded service is intended to provide an alternative to road freight between two major markets in the US Southwest. BNSF said the Phoenix-to-North Texas journey will take just over three days from train departure to freight availability.
The increase in frequency follows higher customer demand ahead of the domestic peak shipping season. The service is designed to provide additional freight capacity while helping customers manage transportation costs.
It uses BNSF’s Alliance Intermodal Facility in North Texas. The facility is part of the Alliance logistics hub and provides connections to warehouses, distribution facilities and consumer markets across the US.

This expanded service responds to rapidly changing market conditions and offers a solution that combines reliable transit, access to key markets and the advantages of intermodal transportation.
The expanded service also precedes the opening of BNSF’s second intermodal facility in the Phoenix area.
Construction is underway at Logistics Park Phoenix (LPP), with the first phase scheduled to open in early 2027. The facility is intended to provide additional intermodal capacity as freight volumes and industrial activity in the region increase.
LPP forms part of BNSF’s wider logistics park strategy, which combines intermodal facilities with industrial and distribution development.
The new Phoenix facility will support further supply chain investment and provide additional capacity for customers operating in the region.
