BCNRail Congress 2015, with Smart City Expo World Congress, will take place in Barcelona from 17-19 November 2015. The focus will be on cutting edge technology, innovations in mobility and new projects and ideas. To see the program, click here. To register, click here.

Smart Mobility

The congress itself will focus on smart mobility . Looking at smart technologies which will meet the transport needs of populations, enabling economic growth and promoting environmental sustainability. There will be plenty of discussion at the congress about smart technologies that promote and manage mobility, looking at case studies which have used smart solutions to great effect in different countries and cities internationally.

Markets and Projects

The second day of the congress will focus on markets and projects, with an overview of rail transport investments , national budgets and business opportunities in the industry. Government ministers, transportation and infrastructure ministers, mayors and senior executives will speak about major urban, intercity and high-speed railways.

Rail Freight Industry

The third and final day of the congress will enjoy presentations and discussions on the opportunities in the freight rail industry, with operators, customers and logistics companies speaking and sharing their knowledge, current projects and future investment plans .

Smart Train Day

Side events and activities will include the third Smart Train day, which will continue the theme of smart mobility, and where discussions will be held on subjects including how technological innovations improve service quality as well as sustainability and efficiency. Matchmaking Partnerships

A brokerage event will take place whereby visitors will be matched with potential cooperation partners via a matchmaking service. This is to enable SMEs, start-ups, entrepreneurs, universities and research groups, corporations, institutions and municipalities to meet international partners for project development, manufacturing and licensing agreement, joint ventures and partnerships. Thirty minute meetings will be scheduled where potential partners can meet and discuss their projects. This is the second year this event is running following the great success of last year.

T-Mobility Project

At the Central Station event, the T-Mobility project will showcase its integrated system which enables movement throughout Catalonia on a single ticket. It will be put into use in 2016 following the renewal of validation machines and software . The cohesive ticket will allow commuters better access to information, flexibility and new payment methods and tariffs, while operators are able to discover more about their passengers and how they travel, thus giving them the opportunity to adapt their network according to the needs of their clients.

BCN Innova

BCN Innova will showcase the most outstanding projects, selected by a committee of experts, as presentations which will take place over the course of the congress. Organised by the Foundation of the Spanish Railways, acting as the technical secretary of the Spanish Railway Technology Platform, will show off Spanish projects, companies and professional who have advanced Spains railway network.

The congress will also enjoy presentations and speeches from international experts and leaders in their field. More than 10,000 visitors are expected at the event, and with plenty of opportunity to network, this promises to be an exceptional congress in the rail industry calendar.
