AtkinsRéalis has been awarded a set of engineering services and supervision contracts for the development of the Riyadh metro.

The contracts form part of a wider infrastructure investment programme that will also cover the development of a range of infrastructure across the city.

Signed during the Saudi-Canadian Investment Forum on 9 July; the contracts awarded by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), will see AtkinsRéalis support both the ongoing operation and expansion of the Riyadh Metro, which first began a phased introduction in December 2024.

Formed of a set of six lines totalling 176km and serving 85 stations, the metro infrastructure represents Saudi Arabia’s longest autonomous metro network.
