Alstom has signed a contract with the Moroccan National Railway Office (ONCF) for the supply of 18 of its Avelia Horizon high-speed trains.

The contract, which is worth 781 million EUR, will see 18 of Alstom’s double-decker units enter operation on Morocco’s high-speed rail extension stretching from Tangier and Marrakech.

The 18 units will enter operation on the expanded line between Tangier and Marrakech

Alstom’s Avelia Horizon high-speed trains are capable of operating at speeds of up to 300km/h and consist of two, shorter power cars & two-level articulated cars.

The Horizon units also feature a lower number of bogies in order to reduce overall operation costs.
