Alstom has put into service a further section, the Samalut section, of the Beni Suef-Asyut railway line in Egypt.

The eighth section of the Beni Suef-Asyut line, the Samalut section, has seen the installation and commissioning of SIL 4 electronic interlocking technology along with a support system, SCADA and an 11kV power supply sub-station.

The Samalut section measures 14km. The total length of commissioned line is 110km with eight stations, 37 level crossing and 174 points.

The Egyptian minister of transport attended the pre-dynamic tests on 3 April. The inauguration was attended by key players at Egyptian National Railways as well as Alstom Egypt’s project director for the Beni Suef-Asyut line.

Mohamed Khalil, Managing Director, Alstom Egypt, said:

We are committed to meeting our customers’ expectations and pursuing our long-term partnership with the Egyptian National Railways. We strive to provide to the country the state-of-the-art signaling solutions.
