This initiative is a key part of Alstom’s strategy to strengthen its role in green and smart mobility while enhancing its engagement with the Canadian innovation ecosystem. It aims to support the creation of sustainable solutions for Canadian and North American transport operators.

Éric Rondeau, Director of Alstom’s Innovation Centre said:

Working with Centech represents an exceptional opportunity for Alstom and the Canadian ecosystem to accelerate the energy transition. By combining our expertise with the innovation of local start-ups, we are strengthening our joint efforts to develop sustainable solutions that will transform the future of mobility while contributing to a cleaner energy future for Canada.

Centech, founded in 1996 by the École de technologie supérieure of Montreal, supports technological innovation through its ‘Acceleration’ and ‘Propulsion’ programmes, helping early-stage technology entrepreneurs grow. Its Collision Lab initiative further promotes open innovation by fostering collaboration between large companies and start-ups.

The partnership fits into Alstom’s broader open innovation strategy, which focuses on areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, and decarbonisation.

Bruno Gutierres, Director of Open Innovation, Alstom said:

This partnership with Centech fits in perfectly with our open innovation strategy. It enables us to benefit from a dynamic ecosystem that will enrich our innovation in priority areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, energy and decarbonisation. These future innovations will be integrated into our products and services to meet the needs of our customers around the world.

Under the partnership, Centech will help identify and select promising start-ups through an international canvassing campaign, focused annually on themes aligned with Alstom’s innovation goals.

Julian Lucchesi, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Centech said:

The partnership with Alstom is a tremendous opportunity for Quebec and Canadian entrepreneurs. It allows them to collaborate with a world leader in mobility and accelerate the development of innovative and sustainable solutions.
