19th International Rail Vehicle Conference in Dresden

The International Rail Vehicle Conference has been held regularly in Dresden for over 25 years. Around 600 industry participants met from 1–3 March 2023.

Alongside many interesting contributions, we – represented by Heiner Salomo and Jan Wielert from büro+staubauch GmbH – also delivered a presentation which outlined the development of a flexible business compartment for retrofitting and conversion. A design study envisaging an attractive, modern interior was put forward. Also part of the presentation were innovative approaches to ‘retrofitting’ a business compartment for the improvement of passenger comfort.

Various technical details and concepts were presented, including choice of materials, interior configuration design, selection of seats and testing of ergonomics and safety.

Our presentation attracted a great deal of interest from the audience. Our conclusion: conferences like this are very worthwhile events at which to foster exchange on the latest developments and trends around rail vehicle technology.

Kudos to the organisers – the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences, the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at the Dresden University of Technology and DVV Media Group GmbH | Eurailpress Hamburg.
