The longest railway tunnel in north Africa, the Gantas railway tunnel in Algeria, has reached a successful breakthrough after SIX AND A HALF YEARS of construction. Excavation of the tunnel was completed on the morning of October 30, 2017.

The line is expected to open at the end of 2018.
