The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has published new statistics regarding the use of Great Britain’s network between April and June 2025 (Q2).

The report analyses the volume of passenger journeys, kilometres and revenue across the mainline rail network, with new reports released quarterly.

Passenger journeys have increased by 7% when compared to Q2 2024

Key findings from the report include an increase of 7% in passenger journeys when compared to the same period in the previous year (April to June 2024), with a total of 451 million journeys made.

Elsewhere, passenger revenue has risen by 6% when compared to last year – with 2024 seeing a total revenue of 2.9 billion GBP and 2025 seeing a total revenue of 3.1 billion GBP.

Finally, the report states that there were 17.1 billion passenger kilometres travelled in total across Great Britain, an increase of 7% when compared with the 15.9 billion kilometres travelled in the same quarter in 2024.
