Design, engineering and project management consultancy firm Atkins has appointed David Brewer as strategic rail market director. Mr. Brewer comes from Highways England, where he was network delivery and development director and a member of the executive committee and formerly a Highways England board director, with a background in traffic technology.

The strategic rail market director is responsible for delivering on projects such as strategic advice and EPC schemes. The role also requires the ongoing development of Atkin’s long-term activities and strategy as an innovator and cutting-edge solutions provider both in the UK and internationally.

Philip Hoare, managing director, Transportation UK and Europe, said:

“David shares my passion for health and safety and continuing to develop our behavioural safety culture both within Atkins and the industry. David brings with him a wealth of experience in leading multiple large complex programmes and will work closely with our client and project delivery teams, building strong client relationships and continuing to build our reputation in the sector. David will be a great asset both to our Transportation division and the Strategic Rail market team. I am delighted to welcome him onto the team and look forward to working with him in our quest to shape the future of transportation.”
