Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) has announced the three firms shortlisted to proceed to the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage for the next phase of the Austin Light Rail project.
The firms were selected following a structured Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process. They will now be invited to submit detailed proposals covering the final design and construction of civil engineering works, rail infrastructure, stations, and system components of the light rail scheme.

The shortlisted firms are:
- Austin Rail Constructors, a joint venture between Stacy & Witbeck, Inc. and Sundt Construction, Inc.
- FCC Construction, Inc.
- Kiewit Infrastructure South Co.
The RFP submissions are due by 24 October 2025. ATP has stated that it will evaluate the proposals after this deadline, with a view to awarding the final contract in early 2026.
The Austin Light Rail project forms part of the broader Project Connect programme aimed at expanding public transport provision in the Texas capital. The nearly 10-mile alignment includes 15 stations, new pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, and a bridge over Lady Bird Lake.
The project is designed to accommodate future expansion as the city grows, with construction slated to begin in 2027 and service projected to start in 2033.
