Quantum Seating Ltd is a joint venture between two companies who are both industry leading innovators in their fields: Automotive Trim Developments (ATD), manufacturers of seating for the transport industry, and GRM Consulting, design and analysis engineers. The combined skills of the two companies make Quantum Seating a market leader in the design and manufacture of world class seating. The Quantum range of seats has been designed and tested to exceed the safety requirements of GMRT 2100 Issue 5, widely acknowledged to be one of the most stringent safety standards in the world.  GRM Consulting provides engineering support and computer software to many of the leading F1 teams and they have used the same technology to engineer the Quantum seats to deliver class leading safety, performance and light weight – a complete pair of M100 seats weighs only 26kgs.  ATD is a supplier of seating to many of the UK’s most prestigious vehicle manufacturers and the same skills and expertise are used to build Quantum seats. Quantum Seating designs and manufactures all types of passenger seats – first class, regional, metro and occasional seats.  Much of our range is also available with armrests and tables. As well as offering our existing range of M100 seats, we are able to produce seating to meet a bespoke requirement.

M100 Train Seating Series

The M100 seat came about after we researched the market and found that nobody was making what the train companies were looking for – a modern, lightweight seat that met the new safety requirements. Starting with a blank sheet of paper in August 2012, the seat was developed and manufactured in six months.  Using an innovative approach to both design and construction, our seats exceed safety legislation for occupant protection by a significant margin and are also lighter than other seats on the market (30% lighter than standard seating). The seat was successfully safety tested at MIRA and has now been installed on a demonstrator train which is currently in service with Greater Anglia. We are now developing other variants of the seat.  It is our intention to provide a world class range of seats to the rail industry that is wholly designed and manufactured in the UK. The M100 seat was shortlisted for the UK Rail Industry Awards 2014 in the ‘Passenger Safety’ category.

The H Series seating range has been developed to meet a specific requirement for the AT200 train designfrom Hitachi Rail Europe. For AT200, Hitachi Rail Europe wanted an innovative, lightweight seat that exceeded the passenger safety requirements of GMRT 2100 Issue 5.  Having seen our M100 seat, we were commissioned to develop a cantilever mounted seat for AT200 using the same technology.  The H Series provides the highest level of passenger comfort with a layout that facilitates easy luggage storage and maximises passenger numbers in busy periods. Quantum Seating delivered the whole programme in 7 months, including manufacture of the seats for the mock-up and crash testing at MIRA.
