Stadler Pankow Receives Order for U-Bahn Trains from BVG

Stadler Pankow have received an order from Berlin Transport (BVG) for eleven four-car type IK narrow profile U-Bahn trains. The order comes after trials of two prototypes. The order placed with Stadler is worth 60 million. Delivery of these U-Bahn trains is scheduled for 2017.

Stalder U-Bahn Trains

The vehicles will have several features such as a curved body shell for optimised space and low profile tunnels, full-width gangways and level boarding for accessibility. Each vehicle set can accommodate 340 passengers, with 80 of those seated.

These curved and highly accessible U-Bahn trains will be replacing the existing A3L71 fleet, which dates back to 1971-73.
