Škoda has announced that the first seven Škoda ForCity Plus 52T trams have officially begun passenger operations in Prague.
The new trams, which were custom made for operations in the city at the Škoda Group factory in Plzeň, form part of a delivery of an initial order of 20 units for the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP).

With 13 trams delivered thus far; the remaining units are set to be delivered by the end of 2025.
Under the framework agreement, Škoda is permitted to supply up to 200 trams, with 2026 set to see the supply of another 20. DPP has the option to acquire the remaining 140 if it desires.
The trams passed both the type approval and homologation process last month, passing all technical tests and covering the requisite 20,000 kilometres both with and without passengers.
The framework between both the Škoda Group and the Prague Public Transport Company was signed in December 2023 before a public unveiling of the trams in January 2024. Production of the first cars was completed in early 2025.
To celebrate the start of passenger services, Škoda has released a short behind the scenes documentary highlighting the development process, as well as the features it states makes it stand out amongst the crowd.
