Russia: 105 OVK Tank Wagons Ordered

Metafraks of Gubakha, a manufacturer of methanol and methanol have ordered 105 OVK Tank Wagons from United Wagon Company, made at their TikhvinKhimMash (TKhM) facility. The acquisition will replace around 20% of Metafraks’ current fleet.

The wagon, which has a loading volume of 88m2, is the product of two years of development with Metafraks, and is now in the commercial manufacturing stages following successful trials at TKhM’s facility in Tikhvin. The project was backed by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the Industry Development Fund, as well as the Ministry of Finance.

The wagons feature a maximum speed of 120km/h, with a maximum load of 67t. They are designed for use on lines fitted with a 1-T loading guage. Certification is expected to be received some time later this year.
