Network Rail Consulting Appoints New Director of Asset Management and Maintenance

Network Rail Consulting has appointed Philip Chalk as director of asset management and maintenance – ANZ, with a focus on developing its consultancy business in New Zealand.

After working as an asset management advisor to Network Rail in the UK, during a time when it was transforming its approach to asset management, Philip has joined Network Rail Consulting in New Zealand. He will help expand the rail consultancys business in New Zealand and Australia and advise clients on asset management; in particular, changes associated with their transformation into strong asset management organisations.

Philip has over 30 years’ experience in senior management roles. He has provided strategic asset management advice aimed at achieving best practice to both the public and private sector organisations. He has worked on projects in New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia as well as the UK. He holds a master’s degree in engineering and is a fellow of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ).

 

Commenting on his new appointment, Philip said: “I’m looking forward to helping take Network Rail Consulting forward into a new and ambitious period of growth. Network Rail has a well-established asset management team in the UK and my aim will be to extend the breadth and depth of the services that we offer our clients in Australasia.”

Peter Koning, general manager of Australia and New Zealand for Network Rail Consulting, said: “These are exciting times for the consultancy business as we seek to broaden our reach internationally. Philip brings a wealth of experience to the team; his knowledge and expertise will hugely support Network Rails international consultancy division.”
