A collision between a train and a crane near the town of Dalfsen in the Netherlands has killed one and injured at least ten, initial reports have claimed. The Arriva train collided with a hydraulic crane which was crossing the line at Lageveld level crossing between Ommen and Dalfsen.

The collision occurred shortly before 9AM this morning. Around fifteen people were on board. Initial reports say that between six and ten people were injured, and one person has been confirmed dead so far.

The line is managed by ProRail, who issued a statement earlier today saying:

“Pier Eringa , CEO of ProRail and all of those at ProRail are shocked by the accident and express their sympathy to the victims and their families and friends.”
