Hyundai Movex to Install Mechanical Gap Fillers for Sydney Metro City & Southwest

Sydney Metro has contracted Hyundai Movex to install mechanical gap filler technology at stations between Marrickville and Bankstown as part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project.

Under this contract, Hyundai Movex will design and install 150 mechanical gap fillers on the Bankstown line to convert the stations to metro standards.

Mechanical Gap Fillers
Sydney Metro is Australia’s only fully accessible railway with level access between platforms and trains and lifts at all stations

The gap fillers will automatically extend from the platform to the train before the platform screen doors open, allowing safe and easy access to the service.

This technology has previously been used in international metro systems, and has now been specifically adapted for Sydney Metro’s curved platforms on the T3 Bankstown line.

The contract awarded to Hyundai Movex also involves the delivery of 360 platform screen doors for eight stations on the Bankstown line.

Hyundai Movex will work with its partners in Australia to deliver the mechanical gap fillers and platform screen doors this year.
