Coldplay fans attending the band’s concerts at Hull’s Craven Park on 18 & 19 August will be offered free travel with Hull Trains as the operator unveils new livery for the special occasion.

Fans with a valid ticket will be able to travel for free on a number of selected ‘Speed of Sound’ services between Hull and Doncaster, with a connecting bus service to the stadium available once they arrive in the city.

The operator also teamed up with Nation Radio to offer two Coldplay fans the chance to unveil the train’s new livery at Hull Paragon Station, with winners Sarah Hird and Toni Blanchard joining fifty singers from Hull’s All For One Choir in celebrating the occasion.

The train will remain in regular service on the East Coast Mainline, serving a number of destinations including Hull, Doncaster, Selby, Grantham and London King’s Cross across the coming week.

Louise Mendham, Service Delivery Director at Hull Trains, said:

When we heard the news that Coldplay had decided to perform in our city, we knew this was something really worth celebrating. You can feel the excitement building and we can’t wait to welcome onboard plenty of fans who would like to travel sustainably to see their favourite band live.

I’d like to thank our Coldplay megafans Sarah and Toni for helping us to launch our new ‘Speed of Sound’ service in style, along with Nation Radio and the talented All For One Choir. It really is an honour to be part of a moment like this for the local community we’ve proudly served for the past 25 years.
