Each unit will be equipped with Knorr-Bremse’s automatic AutoLink front couplers, as well as two types of semi-permanent couplers from its ShortLink line, each of which can be configured according to specific customer requirements.

The modular systems are both developed and manufactured at Knorr-Bremse’s headquarters in Munich, as well as its R&D centre in Budapest.

Dr. Nicolas Lange, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG and responsible for the Rail Division worldwide, said:

Safe, attractive, and sustainable rail transport is a key factor in the transport concepts of large urban centers. We are delighted to be contributing several system technologies to another major European metro network with this project.

Having already received several supply contracts for coupling systems from international customers, this latest order from Hitachi Rail marks another milestone in expanding our position in this segment – entirely in line with our BOOST strategy, which, among other things, envisages strengthening promising, high-growth business areas.

The company also provides pneumatic braking systems equipped with its FlexControl Modular brake controls, as well as its WheelGrip anti-skid technology, enabling more precise and reliable brake performance.
