The 23rd Annual Conference of Railway Experts (23. Jahresfachtagung der Eisenbahn-Sachverständigen) will take place online on 23–24 February 2021. Please note that this event is in German.
The conditions under which railway experts work are currently changing in quite a number of ways. Regulatory changes such as the Fourth Railway Package, the update to the Railway Commissioning Authorisation Regulation (EIGV), and the new Railway Inspectorate Ordinance (ESPV – EisenbahnPrüfsachverständigenverordnung) put testing and approval processes on a new foundation. The increasing digitisation in rail traffic through ETCS, digital interlockings and BIM affects technical issues in the rail sector. And last but not least, the Covid 19 pandemic has also brought unexpected challenges for railway experts in their daily work.
Entitled ‘Working Under New Conditions’, the 23rd Annual Conference of Railway Experts on 23–24 February will discuss this series of new regulations. On the first day, the regulatory and technical developments will be highlighted using specific examples. The panel discussion will focus on the digitisation of work processes. The three specialist workshops on the second day will look in-depth at projects from the fields of engineering and building construction, control and safety technology, and vehicles.

The annual conference itself is also subject to new circumstances as, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the event will take place as a completely virtual conference. The presentations and discussions will take place via a live stream and the participants can use the event app to contribute questions, comments and votes. In addition to conveying the conference content, the digital event format will also offer the best possible interaction with the participants.
