The European Commission has approved the acquisition of joint control of Bombardier Transportation Investment UK Ltd (BTUK) by Caisse de dépôt et placement Québec (CDPQ). The acquisition meets the rigorous standards of EU Merger Regulation s.

BTUK is comprised of Bombardier’s transportation activities, including manufacture of rolling stock , maintenance services, system integration and signalling, as well as their aerospace activities which include the development and manufacture of aircraft. CDPQ is a Canadian-based an institutional investor .

As part of the normal merger review procedure, the Commission found that the acquisition does not bring up any competition concern s; there is no overlap in the companies’ activities, and SDPQ has no other interests which would render it a customer or supplier of BTUK.
