Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced a number of discounts for its ICE service over the course of the summer.
The service, which has seen significant levels of passenger increase during the first four months of 2025, has announced a new pricing structure for the upcoming summer months, with fare reductions across the board.

Starting on 15 June, DB will lower the price of its Super Saver Fare for short distances to 6.99 EUR (down from 9.99 EUR), with tickets for trips to neighbouring cities available from 5.24 EUR (subject to availability). This offer can be combined with a BahnCard discount.
The operator is also set to reduce the price of its MyBahnCard 50 between 15 June and December 13, with the price set to stand at 49.99 EUR (down from 79.90), offering a 50% discount on all Flex fares and a 25% discount on all Saver fares for travellers under the age of 27.
BahnCard 50 holders are also now able to bring a companion as part of their BahnCard discount, allowing the extra traveller to receive the same discounted benefit as the cardholder themselves until 30 September.
Until 31 May, senior passengers aged 65 and over are able to book a selection of 100,000 extra saver fare tickets at a reduced price, with travel available for booking for the entire pre-purchase period until planned timetable changes in mid-December. Seniors can also take advantage of the Seniors BahnCard Plus between 1 July and 31 August, which, for an additional charge, includes BahnBonus Silver status for one year, giving card holders a number of bonus extras including eight free drinks on DB’s onboard catering, eight day passes for DB lounges and priority assistance at DB travel centres.
Between 15 & 28 June, all long-distance commuters are entitled to receive a 25% discount on their personal monthly ticket, with business customers able to purchase a BahnCard Business 25 Klima throughout the month of July. The card, which is available for 34.99 EUR for second class and 49.99 EUR for first class, allows working travellers to utilise a tax-advantaged BahnCard.
Finally, Flexpreis booking will be opened early from 15 June to 31 July, with all bookings made 28 days before departure seeing discounts of up to 20% when compared to booking on the day of departure. DB has also altered its cancellation policy for the Flexpreis service, allowing customers to return tickets free of charge up to one day before the first day of validity from 15 June.
The first four months of 2025 have seen DB’s ICE service utilised more than ever before, with routes reaching record highs and increases over the same time period during 2024.
Stefanie Berk, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at DB Long-Distance, said:People want to travel by train. Bookings for the upcoming long weekends are consistently higher than last year. And with our ICE fleet of 410 trains, we've created enough space to welcome many new passengers on board our trains.
