CRRC has announced that its CR400BF-Z Fuxing intelligent EMU trains have made their first inaugural bidirectional departures from Xi’an North Station and Yan’an Station.

The journey marked the official opening of the Xi’an-Yan’an high-speed railway, which aims to reduce the commuting time between the two cities to 68 minutes – ushering in a new era of high-speed rail (HSR) for northern Shaanxi.

Developed by CRRC in China; the CR400BF-Z Fuxing intelligent EMUs are capable of operating at speeds of up to 350 km/h and feature intelligent service and monitoring systems. The units can transmit EMU data via 5G in an effort to enhance travel intelligence, safety and passenger confidence.

The opening of the the Xi’an-Yan’an High-Speed Railway, Hangzhou-Quzhou High-Speed Railway, and the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway officially cement China’s HSR network’s presence with over 50,000 kilometres of operational mileage – the most available in the world today.

Thus far, over 4,100 high-speed EMUs from CRRC have been deployed.
