Countdown to New Swedish Open Access Train Service Begins

The first tickets for MTR Express, the new open access train service between Stockholm and Gothenburg, have gone on sale.

MTR has bought brand new FLIRT trains from Swiss manufacturer Stadler for the service, which will compete directly with the Swedish state operator SJ and several airlines.

MTR Express is part of the Corporations European operations, overseen by European CEO Jeremy Long who pioneered open access service in the UK, setting up the successful Hull Trains service in GB Railways in 2000.

Globally MTR has a track record of delivering performance excellence to over nine million people each day, or almost three billion journeys a year.

In the UK, the London Overground, which MTR jointly operates with Arriva is consistently one of the UKs top-performing rail services with an outstanding record for both punctuality and customer satisfaction1. MTR has recently been awarded the Crossrail concession by Transport for London (TfL) in London.
