CAF has announced the successful conclusion of a contract to manufacture nine extra-long tram units for the Zabalgana line in Vitoria.

Representing an investment of almost 49 million EUR; the units are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2029.

The new trams will measure in at 44 metres in length

Each unit will measure in at 44 metres in length and be comprised of seven modules, as well as include upgrades design to enhance both accessibility and travel comfort.

The trams will be capable of carrying up to 400 passengers and match the length of the seven extra-long units already in service, as well as the three vehicles currently under construction. All vehicles will include new air conditioning systems and features designed to improve universal accessibility.

The contract also includes the supply of spare parts valued at nearly 4 million EUR, all of which are required for vehicle maintenance. CAF will also provide a driving simulator worth 1.19 million EUR.
