British Steel is recruiting more than 180 new employees for jobs across its UK operations as it prepares to increase production levels in the coming months.
The recruitment drive is part of the company’s plans to boost output and support its long-term sustainability goals.

The steelmaker, operating under the oversight of the UK Government, has secured sufficient raw materials to continue running a two-blast furnace operation. This will enable a marked increase in iron and steel production.
To support this activity, British Steel is advertising a wide range of roles across its sites in Scunthorpe, Teesside and Skinningrove. The company is seeking individuals for professional, skilled and entry-level positions in areas including engineering, environmental services, chemistry, manufacturing, legal services, health and safety, and logistics.
Interim Chief Executive Officer Allan Bell said:“With the backing of the UK Government, we are focused on cementing British Steel as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of steel. To help achieve this, and meet customer demand, we will be upping production across all our sites and recruiting more than 180 people to help drive us forward.
These are exciting opportunities across our business, offering rewarding careers which will play important roles in building stronger futures for our business and the UK economy.
Of the positions currently available, 165 are based in Scunthorpe, with a further 17 roles across Teesside and Skinningrove. Some of the roles include:
- Electrical and mechanical engineering positions

In addition to these positions, there are also opportunities in welding, nursing, customer services and other support functions. British Steel states that it offers competitive pay and benefits, as well as training and career development.
