Alstom have been awarded two contracts from Trenitalia, the national train operator, for an additional 25 additional “Jazz” regional trains. The total value of this contract is worth around 170 million. With the addition of these trains, Trenitalia’s fleet comes to 95 train sets. These two orders are part of another contract signed back in 2012.

Alstom’s “Jazz” Coradia Meridian Range

The Jazz trains are the latest generation of Alstom’s Coradia Meridian range designed for regional operators in Southern Europe, mainly in Italy. Jazz is an Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) train that can run at a maximum speed of 160km/h.

“Jazz is proving to be a reliable train appreciated by passengers. We are pleased that Trenitalia renewed its confidence in Alstom, recognising the commitment of the Company, that is on schedule for delivery under the contract terms, in this project, said Pierre-Louis Bertina, Alstom Transport Italy Managing Director.
