Alstom has signed a new, four-year agreement with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for ongoing inspections and overhauls of Onvia Switch electric point machines used across the Polish network.

Active between 2026 and 2029; the main scope of the contract covers almost 3,500 inspections and overhauls, with an option for an additional 800 inspections if required.

The work will include both complete periodic maintenance and repairs in accordance with PKP PLK requirements and based on Alstom’s standards for servicing and maintaining point machines including the Onvia Switch 500, 700 and 2000 models.

Adam Juretko, Director of Alstom Polska, Katowice, said:

The agreement between Alstom and PLK SA is a significant step toward further improving railway infrastructure maintenance in Poland. For the first time, we can plan and carry out work on a nationwide scale, ensuring consistency and continuity of services for many years ahead.

The cooperation model we have developed will contribute to the safety and development of the entire rail network, strengthening market participants’ trust in stable, long-term solutions.

Alstom’s previous experience within the Polish market states includes the first implementation of the ERTMS Level 2 system, construction of ERTMS Level 2 on ten PKP PLK railway lines, the construction of more than 30 centralised traffic control (CTC) systems, equipping more than 220 stations with computerised interlocking systems, and the modernisation of over 1,700 level crossing signalling systems.
