AECOM has announced that it, alongside partners Rejlers, has been awarded a contract for the development of the new Southeast Link, a project to strengthen the railway network in the south of Sweden.
The contract, which was awarded by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), will see the two companies collaborate on the design of a new passing track along the Blekinge coastal railway situated between Olofström and Mörrum, in the Karlshamn municipality.

The new passing section is set to increase capacity along the single-track portion of the route between Kristianstad and Karlskrona, improving services with connections to Malmö and Copenhagen.
Martin Ålenius, Business Development Manager at AECOM in Sweden, said:With this latest win, we continue to strengthen our collaboration with Trafikverket and our contribution to long-term sustainable infrastructure solutions in Sweden.
This is an important step in the continued growth of AECOM in the Swedish market, and we look forward to contributing to the development of the Southeast Link together with Rejlers. By combining our global expertise with local knowledge, we are committed to delivering innovative, resilient and sustainable transport solutions to support Sweden’s future mobility needs.
Both companies have also been appointed to support the Swedish Transport Administration on the North Bothnia Line, a proposed 270km long high-speed railway extension to the northern portion of the existing Bothnia Line.
Hamzeh Hassoun and Albin Holmberg, Business Area Managers for Rail at Rejlers, said:We are proud to be able to contribute to the development of Swedish railway infrastructure through this strategically important project. The Southeast Link is an important part of the sustainable transport solutions of the future, and we look forward to delivering high-quality solutions that contribute to a robust and modern rail link.
