ABB Wins Order for Train Equipment Worth $90 Million

Stadler Rail have awarded contracts to ABB, worth around $90 million, to enable sustainable high-speed, suburban and urban transit in Europe and in the United States.
ABB will supply Stadler Rail with traction converters with integrated power supplies, traction transformers and battery charges. Stadler Rail will then use this train equipment on their new international EuroCity trains being made for the Swiss Federal Railways. Service of the line will start in 2017 and will run between Frankfurt, Germany; Zurich; and Milan.

ABB will also be supplying their compact traction converters with integrated power supplies. This equipment will be used on 4 new diesel-electric railcars for the Capital Metro in Austin, Texas. ABB’s compact traction converters and transformers will also be used to power 15 Stadler electric trains, to be used in the Hungarian National Railway’s suburban fleet.
