International Sustainable Railway Awards 2022 (ISRA) will take place in Berlin, Germany on 17 February 2022. The ceremony will be co-located with the 11th edition of the International Railway Summit.

The International Sustainable Railway Awards (ISRA) celebrate innovation in mobility that delivers social (‘people’), environmental (‘planet’) and economic (‘prosperity’) sustainability. The awards culminate in a gala ceremony on 17 February 2022 in Berlin, showcasing transformative work driving the green revolution.

The ISRA categories recognise the breadth of innovation transforming the rail sector today. The categories are divided into 3 sub-segments, each devoted to a different aspect of sustainability.

The general categories will celebrate the best of the best, given to the projects and individuals who have made the most striking contribution to sustainable development;

People

  • Best Diversity & Inclusion Initiative
  • Best Contribution to COVID Emergency
  • Best Skills Development & Training Programme

Planet

  • Best Use of Zero-Carbon Technology
  • Best Circular Economy Project
  • Best Green Corridor

Prosperity

  • Rebuilding Confidence in Railways
  • Best Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience
  • Best Multimodal Partnership

General

  • IRS11 Participants’ Award
  • Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Rail
  • International Sustainable Railway Award

‘The Awards jury will score applications for people, planet and prosperity categories on the basis of the following judging parameters:

  •  Impact (30% of the score)
  • Sustainability/Scalability (30%)
  • Innovation (20%)
  • Collaboration with other sectors (20%)’
